Matariki

Yesterday we celebrated Matariki. Matariki is the celebration of the Maori New Year. The Kowhai syndicate had a rotation of activities which we all joined in. We started in our own classroom where we made 3D stars with Caroline. Next we went to Teresa's classroom where we wove some putiputi (flowers) using paper. After that we went to Dianne's class where we learnt some Maori action songs including how to use rakau (sticks). To end our celebration all of the Kowhai Syndicate shared their lunch together.
