Simon Says

On Tuesday this week the Octopus reading group read a book called Simon Says. We decided that it would be fun if everybody followed along whilst they read the story. What fun we all had!

Learning at School

This week our teacher Sally has been in Rotorua at the Learning @ School Conference. She has been learning lots of great fun and interesting ideas to bring back to the classroom. In one of her workshops she learnt about digital storytelling. Here is the story that she created.

Our Class Charter

We have the right to be happy at school.

We have the responsibility to:

• Respect people and get along
• Be good friends
• Speak nicely to other people

We have the right to learn

We have the responsibility to:

• Listen to the teacher
• Follow instructions
• Do our best

We have the right to use school equipment to help us with our learning

We have the responsibility to:

• Look after the equipment
• Share the equipment
• Put the equipment away after we have used it

We have the right to talk and to be listened to

We have the responsibility to:

• Listen and not distract the person talking

Wow we have already had two weeks at school. We are all getting to know one another and have been thinking about how we can get along together and be great friends. As part of this we have talked about our rights and responsibilities and have written a class charter. This week we are looking forward to going to Tahuna beach with the rest of the children in the Kowhai Syndicate. We are especially looking forward to riding on the train at the Modellers pond.
